NYC and More!
One of my favorite rituals is to drive to NYC to pick up my jazz musicians that I’ve been working with for so long. It’s great to be in the city. Sometimes there’s a rehearsal, sometimes it’s a quick pick up and hit the road. I always try to get some food around the corner at the recommended Cuban place, the Mexican place, the best bagel joint in Brooklyn… it goes on forever, these great hole in the walls. Then once we get a chance to chat I hear what’s happening; who’s playing with who, how the traffic is, where’s the best place to get dumplings, have you checked out the new most “killing” pizza joint? And on and on. But things are always changing around NYC. Jazz musicians (or at least the kind I like) don’t just play at jazz joints anymore. The name that keeps popping up over and over again from different players is “The Rockwood Music Hall”. They tell me it has the most mixed bag of music, is super intimate, and they all go there to hang when they’re not gigging. Hmm, that’s interesting, the most mixed bag of music? Well that’s kind of like JMP! So that’s where we’re going to play next and we hope you can join us for a special intimate evening. It’s cozy so please get your tickets in advance. After not playing NYC for 5 years we want to play for the people who know us best. And that’s you! MORE

Jamie and Brad Terry at the Discover Jazz Fest
a new duo
Monday June 7, Burlington VT
How many jazz duos have you heard consisting of mandolin and clarinet? Jamie met virtuoso Brad Terry in April. The two immediately clicked with a rare intuitive connection. Brad (72) has played with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Jim Hall and harmonica player Howard Levy (from Bela Fleck and the Flecktones). He's probably best known for his duo album "The Living Room Tapes" with legendary jazz guitarist, Lenny Breau. The greatest secret about Terry is that he's the greatest whistler on the planet! The duo will join Stephane Wrembel and his band to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Django Reinhardt. For more info check the showdates page. Don't miss this rare magical combo.
