Interview and Music

"Check out a recent interview on Northeast Public Radio's WAMC "Performance Space". The interview includes the bands live performance of several musical excerpts of the multi media performance "How Much Land Does a Man Need?"

Tolstoy goes to The Egg Performing Arts Center
Friday Oct 19th, Albany NY.
Check the showdates page for more info.
JMP takes it's multi media performance, "How Much Land Does a Man Need?" to the capital city of NY. Architecturally, The Egg is without precedent. From a distance it seems as much a sculpture as a building. Though it appears to sit on the main platform, the stem that holds The Egg actually goes down through six stories deep into the Earth. The Egg keeps its shape by wearing a girdle - a heavily reinforced concrete beam that was poured along with the rest of the shell. This beam helps transmit The Egg's weight onto the supporting pedestal and gives the structure an ageless durability that belies its nickname. It's largely viewed as the most eye catching structure in the Capital City.

Jamie Sits in with Grisman Quintet
On Sat. July 21 Jamie joined the David Grisman Quintet for their encore at Shelburne Museum, Shelburne VT. They jammed out on a medley of Grismans own Opus 38 and Shady Grove.

Jazz Mandolin Project takes a Risk with Story that Pays Off
The Daily Gazette, Schenectady NY. Oct. 20, 2007
A Review by Philip Schwartz

ALBANY -- With his latest project, a retelling/reinterpretation of Leo Tolstoy's short story "How Much Land Does A Man Need?," mandolin player Jamie Masefield takes a risk. And while it may not pay in terms of commercial profitability, this multimedia performance has turned into a risk well worth taking. MORE
